Project Scope:

  • RJK Construction Managed and Provided All Labor, Materials, Supplies, and Equipment to Remove Graffiti and Restore Wood Doors at the Tacoma Union Station
  • The Tacoma Union Station Building is Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, work performed per Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties
  • Performed Mock-Up of Refinishing on Mullion Cover Prior to Test Multi-Step Process
  • Sanded/Scuffed Coat to Prepare for a New Clear Coat, Sanded Down to Bare Wood if Needed, then Refinished
  • Refinished Stain & Clear Coat Using Old Masters Gel Stain and Varathane Ultimate Spar Urethane
  • Protected and Cleaned All Hardware and Reinstalled Restored and Prefinished Sashes into Existing Restored Openings
  • Provided and Installed 10 Commercial Door Closers
  • Interfaced with GSA and its Regional Historic Preservation Officer along with the State of Washington’s Historic Preservation Office, the City of Tacoma’s Historic Preservation Officer, the Landmarks Board, and Subcontractors to Successfully Complete this Project
